Pre-Licensing Workshop
A two-phase program to become a licensed massage therapist in Hawai‘i. This state-approved course prepares you for the Hawai‘i State Massage License Exam while immersing you in Lomilomi healing traditions. Community tuition assistance may be available for Native Hawaiians and Native Americans.

You'll learn Lomilomi Techniques, Anatomy & Physiology, and Professional Skills. (Total 150 hrs)
Instructors:
Mariko Kekai Sato (MAT-11268) – Hands-on lomi techniques. Doing lomi for 25 years, UH Hilo Hawaiian Studies graduate.
Nancy Kahalewai (MAT-697) – Anatomy and Physiology. Author, founder of two massage schools, expert in anatomy and Lomilomi.
Phase Two Apprenticeship (420 hrs)
$2700
Student clinic (70hrs clinical operation, 310 hrs hands on with record keeping )
Class (40 hrs advanced lomi techniques) : Date TBA
Length of the program is from 6-12 months. You can start on a date that your application for massage apprentice got approved by the State.
$2700 plus tax
20% due on application (non-refundable), 80% due on the first day of the class

Lomilomi Workshop
Our massage school is approved by the State of Hawaiʻi and listed in the AMTA School Directory. If you’re seeking CE/CEU credit and are licensed outside of Hawaiʻi, please check with your state board to confirm acceptance.
Lomilomi Level 1: Basic Intensive Training (30 CE)

Learn a full-body lomilomi routine in this two-part workshop, open to LMTs and anyone drawn to traditional Hawaiian healing. This is a great option if you're short on time but want authentic, in-depth training.
You'll learn:
- Full-body lomi techniques
- Pule (prayer), intention, and the cultural roots of lomilomi
- Safe, effective routines to use with ʻohana or integrate into profession
Lomi Noho (Seated) for LMT (5 CE)
$250

Date: December 15, 2025

Lomi noho is a seated form of lomilomi — noho meaning “chair” or “to sit.” Taught in the style of Kumu Dane Silva, this 5-hour CE class introduces upper-body techniques, seated body mechanics, and practical applications for clients who cannot lie on a table, community settings, office work, or events. No special massage chair is required — a regular chair is all you need.
Intro to Lomilomi for LMT (10 CE)

This 2-days course introduces the foundations of traditional Hawaiian lomilomi in the style of Kumu Dane Silva. Participants will learn portions of the basic full-body routine (prone and supine), proper body mechanics, opening pule, and closing meditation.
Ideal for LMTs new to lomilomi or want to learn our Kumu Dane Silva style.

Advanced Neck Lomi for LMT (6 CE)

This advanced course teaches specialized lomi techniques for the neck. Designed for LMTs with a foundation in lomi or clinical neck work, it focuses on safe and effective approaches to the cervical area.
Students will learn detailed techniques and how to integrate neck lomi into therapeutic or relaxation sessions to help clients with tension headaches, limited mobility, or chronic discomfort.
